Hey Parents!
I just discovered a new and wonderful website! It’s called, Spelling City! I will enter our weekly spelling list directly on that site. You can go to www.spellingcity.com . Follow these simple directions:
- Click on the tab: Find A List
- Choose: Teacher Name
- Type: Lynnette Radke
- Search
- Find this week’s date for the current list
- Enjoy many spelling games and activities!!
It is so cool! You can play matching, hang mouse, scrambled words, missing letters, crossword puzzles and much more! It is such an awesome supplement for the weekly spelling test in our classroom!
The students will be working with the math series from the publisher Houghton Mifflin. We will start the year developing a strong sense of numbers, sequential order, comparisons and values. You can support your children by going to the site: http://www.eduplace.com/math/mw/g_1.html .
We will begin with Unit 1 entitled: Number concepts, operations, and graphing.
The first grade children will soon begin to read easily and fluently! The reading series we use at Washington School is MacMillan/McGraw-Hill. You can visit their site: http://www.mhschool.com/reading/2005/student/ We will be starting the Yellow Book 1. The theme is entitled: Experiences.
